Default What to do about a wart?

What's the current treatment recommendations for warts? Years ago I had one burned off in my doctors office with liquid nitrogen I think it was, but I could be wrong. My mother's doctor when she was young walloped one she had on her hand with a heavy Bible! I'm not joking, that really happened.

Since it's been many years since I've had to treat one on my hand I thought I'd ask what's the options nowadays? And what can cause them to appear anyway?

Many therapeutics modalities are available for the treatment of warts. But the therapy should present no hazard to patients,no pain, no scarring and all. So specialized hands of a specialist is needed. Many studies have shown that there is no any evidence of single line topical therapy that is effective in treating warts. So effective treatment still remains liquid nitrogen cryosurgery or salicylic acid or the combination therapy with both.

One study showed that occlusive therapy with duct tape with 85% warts treatment as compared with liquid nitrogen 60% treatment. This therapy included occlusion of the warts for 6 days then soaking with warm water then debridement. This cycle was repeated for atleast 2 months.

Some other treatment might be with podophyllin, salicylic acid paints, localised heat therapy, cantharone and many other like light electrosurgery, cyosurgery and CO2 laser therapy.

What would be occlusive therapy with duct tape, can you explain that treatment in simple terms please? I don't know what occlusive therapy means or debridement.

occlusive therapy is an air tight water tight dressing. debridement is cleaning all the dead skin until you get to fresh area.

Warts are viral infection of upper part of the skin. I had few on my hands for several months. Then one day, I noticed, they all disappeared completely without even a tinny trace. I was really surprised. This happened twice so far.

I don't really know what helped to me, but I did organized my life a bit in that time...

I've had mine burned off at my dermatologist's office when I was a kid and they never came back again. I have been wart free for over ten years now, It was quick and almost pain free. i think many clinics still perform this procedure now. there may be other treatments, just as Admin shared, but burning warts is pretty affordable nowadays. In my country they usually do it by set, such that you pay X amount for X number of warts.

I had a wart growing up on my thumb, i have a small scar left. I tried the ointment, and it never helped. Suddenly one day I woke up and it was gone. Before that, I had 3 small warts on my hand, and they were removed leaving me with 3 small indents in my hand, hardly noticeable to anyone other than me.

apply Aloe vera gel daily this will remove or apply Banana or lemon peel to the affected area during night and wrap it, this will help too.
