    Default Poison Ivy rashes

Poison ivy is one of the leading rashes in people, and most people don't know what to do.

Some people use calamine, but it doesn't always work.

For me, I like to rub pure salt on the rash to dry it out. Yes it will sting really bad, but it also helps relieve the itch.

After the salt, I run hot water over the rash.

    Hope this tip helps.

Calamine lotion alone might not help.you might take some oral antihistamine like cetirizine or diphenhydramine which helps control itching ..if the itching is severe you might also apply corticosteroid creams.Cool and wet compresses for atleast 15 to 30 minutes 4-6 hrs per day might also help.

I could never rub salt into an already irritated skin area. If poison ivy is bad and calamine does not help, an old wives remedy is to put about an ounce of bleach in a tub of water and soak in it. You can also put baking soda or oatmeal in a bath to help itching!
