Default Indigo naturalis - a ray of hope for chronic plaque psoriasis?

I was reading about a study published last November of this alternative treatment which hails from China. Apparently those treated with an ointment containing indigo naturalis had an 81% improvement in the treated lesions.

While idigo naturalis is a herbal remedy, it does still have occasional side effects when used over an extended period of time which consist of "irritation of the gastrointestinal tract and adverse hepatic (liver) effects."

How do you feel about alternative therapies such as this? Would you want to try them?
