These circles started showing up on my skin last year. First there were just a couple and they were barely noticable, now theyre popping up over night. They seem to pop in clusters. Theres some by.my collar bone and on the nape of my neck. When I touch them they feel dry and sometimes peel. Sometimes they itch. Is anyone familiar with this conditions. Any comments would be appreci

I think you should see a doctor. this could be a fungal infection but i am just guessing and i am not a doctor. a doctor needs to see this in person.

Hi sarai! the condition you are having is called pityriasis versicolor also known as tinea versicolor earlier, caused by the yeast malassezia furfur. It is the yeast that commonly occur over the surface of the normally skin but during certain conditions (e.g decreased immunity) causes over overgrowth these yeast resulting in the condition.

Fungal testing by scaping the skin from the area and viewing under the microscope may reveal the yeast.

For the treatment oral or topical antifungal medication can be used. For mild cases topical medicated shampoo like selenium sulphide (2.5% lotion) and ketoconazole (2%) can be used twice a weekly for 1 month according to the severity. For sever condition oral antifungal may be used.

Hope you update us about your condition.

You should consult your health care provider for a skin patch test.
