Default What worked for me and should help others

Firstly I had roaccutane and it worked wonders, but only temporarily. Still get spots if I dont stick to my method. I'm about 95% clear. This is what works for me and convinced it will work for others. Follow these steps and your skin should improve after a month. Can be hard work but worth it. Acne is a hormonal thing (even in adults) and the two things you can do to help balance your hormones. These are diet and stress. Also a good skin care routine is needed. You have some control here and you will see results.

    Diet

Avoid refined carbohydrates (white bread, white pasta etc) and sugary foods and dairy. Cut down red meat to once a week if you can. Also cutting down on caffeine would help.
    Good alternatives are:

Carbohydrates: rye bread, wholewheat pasta, wholemeal bread (2 slices a day), quinoa, granola bar, fruit, vegetables, potatoes, brown rice, oats, good quality granola cereal, all-bran, homemade popcorn (easy and tastes great)

Sugar: honey (5ml a day max), mayple syrup, xylitol, fruit, dark chocolate, agave nectar

    Dairy: Soya products

Caffeine: Green tea and dark chocolate (contain a lot less caffeine)

An easy way to do this is do go on a Low GL diet or Low Gi. But don't forget to remove dairy (if you must have dairy in your diet then a probiotic yogurt is best).

    Stress

This is a hard one as we all enjoy and get annoyed by different things. Try to de-stress daily.

You could search stress relief online. I like to exercise for this but you may be different.

Other idea are breathing exercise, meditation, relaxing music, writing down thoughts, yoga.

    Skin care

    Wash your hands first.
Wash (warm water as hot will aggrevate your skin), I use this cleanser 100% natural [url] and moisturise twice a day (with a non-condomogenic moisturiser, which means it will not clog your pores), I use "Avene Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream" unfortunatley its not 100% natural but it works well and will not clog your pores.

Deep cleanse once a week. I use this face mask 100% natural again, very gentle on the skin. Secret weapon is wear make up (non-comedogenic). I do and nobody can notice (a male). Can give you more info on what to do and where to go if you like this option. It improves my skin in an instance about 50%. I use "Clarin Powder Compact", and spray this toner over my skin after to set the make-up, which makes it less noticeable. [url]If you use any skin care products that you like and don't give you spots then stick with them.

Hope this helps and you haven't already tried some of the things.

Yes I am promoting what I use and it works for me. If you have a different skincare regime then great. And yes you should use what works for you. The main issue is your diet and stress. And really to make sure your skin care regime is not blocking your pores.

Personally belive acne is 75% diet and stress and 25% skin care regime. Often less is more with your skin care regime.

    How is it going?

I put the theory to the test the other day to see if still effected by foods. Indulged in dairy, refined sugar and refined carbs for a few days. One week later worst break out in ages, it felt horrible and reminded me why I put all the effort in to eat healthy. Its well worth it and im sure you will be thinking the same.

I had acne until my thirties. Then I've resolved some personal things about relationships and work. I probably changed the diet, but can't even tell how. More regular, probably. I've started to concentrate on my work and my daily goals. One day I noticed that acne has almost completely gone. No cream, no special diet or exercise.

So, I personally believe if you have a problem that causes acne, solving that problem may help in acne. When deciding about a diet and exercise think how they help you to live better, not how they will affect your acne. You do not need to become a slave of your acne.

I do believe that certain foods may trigger acne. These foods might not be right for you and they may cause you other problems, like feeling of fullness or constipation.

Become a slave? Don't thnk so I still enjoy treats now & then and have whatever is for dinner.

I know for a fact diet affects my skin and many others. Still does to this day tested it the other day and had the worst break out in a year or so.

The things I cut out affect your hormones and acne is a hormonal thing.

Probably cleared your skin as sorted out stress issues or soemthing else you was doing balanced your hormones. Treating Acne can be an individual thing but I really beleive my method is more of a universal one. It may not clear everyone but it can only help.

There are claims above that are one against other.
You say avoid sugary foods, but you recommend honey, fruits and syrups, which are full of sugars.

Pure (dark) chocolate may aggravate acne (a study from Feb 2011):

Chocolate is believed by many for quite some time to be a trigger of acne, even if some dermatologists do not agree. I'm really not sure if recommending chocolate as non-acne forming is a good idea.

Yes avoid Refined sugars/sugary foods with a high GI. All the foods containing sugar I suggest are either Low GI or Medium GI.

There is no reason for dark chocolate causes spots? Can't even get to that article without a membership. I have two sqaures every day and have clear skin. You wouldn't be able to eat much more then a couple squares a day. Why would somebody even eat pure chocolate! I eat 70% dark chocolate.
