    Default Wrinkled fingertips after swimming

Has anyone noticed that after swimming, dishwashing or other contact with water his/her fingertips has become wrinkled and numb? Are your fingertips less sensitive when they are wrinkled? There are certain disorders (celiac disease, hypothyroidism) in which your fingertips may become wrinkled and numb, and I'm not sure if numbness in a consequence of wrinkling or they just coexist.

Hey boron, saw u after long. That's totally normal for skin to wrinkle after prolonged exposure to water. When the oil is washed-up after prolonged exposure water enters the skin through dead keratin and this creates swelling and wrinkling of the skin. As a result dead keratin may partially separate from the normal skin (if exposed for long it gets exfoliated) that might cause numbness of the skin.

    Here is the different story

Hi. Yes, I know about wrinkling. I wonder if someone noticed less sensitivity (numbness) in the fingertips after wrinkling.

It is the sebum which protects your skin but spending long time in the water sebum is washed away and water makes way into outer layer of skin.
