Finely ground Oatmeal is very nice on dry skin. I wouldn't use anything harsher or coarser than that in any case. I love honey, oatmeal, cream, anything smooth and soothing. Shouldn't really hurt acne types of skin either. Also, ALWAYS be oh so light with your touch. You do NOT need to press into the skin to exfoliate or even clear pores. Gentle does it better!!

Absolutely, oatmeal is great on the face. I prefer the feel of the jojoba beads but do use oatmeal when I am out of them. We always have oatmeal in our cupboards, or should as it is also a great breakfast too. The kind that takes 25 minutes to cook not the 'pour water on it' and eat it 3 minutes later. Good point on the light touch. Gentle does do it better.

Quick Oats are good for me. NOT instant though. I'm with you there. I'm guessing it would be preservativey tasting anyway. Never keep it in the house.
Now, to keep from licking it off lips and as far as the tongue can reach.

Some use yoghurt with their oatmeal. I've never tried it but would love to know it's efficacy over cream, if there is a difference.

If you've got oily skin you could substitute hazelnut oil and grapeseed for the emu, olive and coconut oils. The hazelnut and grapeseed oils are lighter and more easily absorbed. For mature skin you could use rosehip oil, argan oil, macadamia oil or camellia oils as all have great anti-ageing properties in their own right.
