    Default Sleep and wrinkles?

I was inspired to write this threat after my previous "sleep with makeup" post. I usually sleep sideways, with my face pressed against my pillow. I have one pillow on each side of me as well (so three in all) so that every time I turn there's a pillow under my cheek. Sadly, my mom claims this will cause wrinkles on my skin. She keeps reminding me to sleep straight so that nothing touches my face, but I can't help it!!! I can't control my body when I sleep.

    So my questions are:
    (1) Does the way I sleep really promote wrinkles?
    (2) How do you sleep?

well if you use traditional pillows for years then it might cause wrinkle. They are called as pillow wrinkles or sleep lines.Women, who tend to sleep on their sides, are most likely to see these lines appear on their chin and cheeks. Men tend to notice these lines on the forehead since they usually sleep with the face pressed face down on the pillow. People who sleep on their backs do not develop these wrinkles since their skin does not lie crumpled against the pillow.

Some says using cotton pillows causes more wrinkles than slik pillows ,so what pillows are you using.may be you can use silk pillows to reduce it.

There are many companies selling sleep pillows that claims to reduce wrinkles you can check them if they work.i haven't tested. You can do some facial exercise to avoid wrinkles.

if you furrow your brows together when you sleep then yes, it probably might cause wrinkles. and sleeping positions might contribute to that at all. but honestly i don't think that they effect developing wrinkles as much as the sun, so i tend to not worry about that. but if you really care so much, then i suggest in investing in silk pillow covers, so that your face will just slide, and not go against it.

That really sounds like an old wive's tale to me. In all the reading that I've done I have never heard of this before. Wrinkles are caused by frowning and stress not by the way that you sleep.

I don't think there is any real relationship between sleeping habits and styles and wrinkles ) Wrinkles arise because of advancing age and not because you frown too mcuh or for sleep sideways.

I actually read where frowning too much, and smiling too much too for that matter, can add to the wrinkles you get as you age. I'll see if I can't find that info again.

Moms are always right and your mom so…..

Try to sleep on your back. Sleeping on the same side every night presses the same wrinkles into your face. Sleeping on your back helps smooth the wrinkles out because gravity works to pull the skin backwards. If you cannot sleep on your back, at least try to switch sides frequently.

Sleep right. Burning the midnight candle can make you look old so it’s important to get enough sleep. However, the way you sleep can also affect your appearance. To avoid sleep wrinkles, sleep on your back and keep pillows away from your face. Pressing your face into a pillow whenever you sleep can give you wrinkles. If you can’t avoid this, use a softer pillow made of silk instead of one made of cotton.

“You know those facial creases you wake up with from sleeping on your side? They could be permanent. Regularly subjecting one side of your face to such pressure can lead to wrinkles that don’t budge. Sleep on your back with your face in the air to avoid puffy eyes and a lined face,” Battle said.

    Hi!
I don't think that sleeping on silky or cotton pillows can change the way you look. May be the stiff pillows can cause some pressure on to your face but they should also not be so detrimental to cause wrinkles at the unwanted places.
One thing which you should never leave is to do some anti-wrinkle or face lift exercises. Whether you are a 13 year old girl or a 50 year old woman, these exercises will always be of help.

I sleep side-ways but I donot have any such problem. You should also not be worried. On my recommendation, just sleep the way you feel comfortable and live a happy life but don't leave exercise.
    Best Regards
    Amber
