Question Uneven skintone on face, I want to self tan?

Hi, I am going to start using a gradual tanning lotion on my body, and one specifically for the face on my face. I am 19 years old, half Polish & half Korean, and unfortunately I have an uneven skintone. My cheeks and the sides of my face are lighter than my "t-zone" and the skin around my mouth and on my chin is a darker shade. I definitely need more iron in my diet, but this is also because of genetics and an unfortunate period of acid peels when I was younger to deal with my acne.

I can cover it up with the most part with very good makeup. However, since I want to start self-tanning, how should I approach my face? Should I apply a moisturizer to the darker areas before I use the tanner, or just not use the tanner on those parts at all?

Also, since my foundation/concealer are the color of my "normal" skintone, I want to use a tinted moisturizer and bronzer for the spring summer. Anyone know any good tinted moisturizers? Heck, does anyone even know any remedies to get rid of this problem??

Thank you!! I can't wait to get more active on this site and help people out!

You should use a water-based moisturizer to ensure that the skin is free to absorb all the tanning product. If you use an oil-based moisturizer before self-tanning, the oil can sit on the skin, creating a barrier that can cause self-tanners to streak!

The best tan would be a natural tan from the sun. The lighter part of the skin should catch up to darker patches, that's my experience but everyone's skin tone is different. MD Skincare makes a good tinted moisturizer.

jergens natural glow is a self tanning lotion which comes in different tints! I loved it but it takes a little longer to show results but when it shows you really can tell the difference~
