Scabby scalp.
I'm not even sure if I've posted this in the right place or if anyone else has mentioned a similar problem but I'm having some slight issues with my scalp and wondered if anyone had any ideas.
I can't say that it's a new thing as I think I've always had it, but when I run my hands through my hair or over my scalp I can always feel scabs and slight bumps, they're more prominent around my hairline, where my skin is very dry. They usually look like papules around my hairline, just dry spots. No seeping or obvious infection and no bleeding unless one of the scabs gets caught but it's nothing serious.
No hairdresser has ever mentioned a problem she's seen in my hair, which is to my shoulders, blonde and getting quite thick these days, though I can't say it's that healthy after using bleach highlights from last year.
Does anyone know what this might be? Am I just describing a dry scalp? Or something more...Skin is my passion.

Sorry for late reply, we were busy upgrading site..Have you experienced excess hair loss...This could be anything from scalp psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, scalp folliculitis, allergic contact dermatitis or neurodermatitis. Do they itch, are they tender do they come and go..? anyway, try tea tree oil shampoo or selsun shampoo 2 times a week for a month and see if that work..Avoid stress as stress may aggravate your condition.

ok well u didn't mentioned if they itch or tender..but anyway try those shampoo and see it works. In most cases they are not dangerous or sth, but if it doesn't heal try making an appointment with a dermatologist.

I know nothing of this but it is worth getting a diagnosis for peace of mind. Most areas have local specialised GP's so your own GP could refer you to another practice for this rather than the long waiting times at hospitals. This happened to me when I had psoriasis. Another GP examined me and took a scraping for testing and all seemed ok so then my own GP could treat me with this diagnosis.

it doesn't bother me at all, it doesn't hurt, I just don't like the look of them and how they flake in my hair when they break :/ yeah I'll give the shampoos a go. x
