I don't know what causes, but I did used to have the same problem as you! I used to just get around it by using a purple base (Shu Uemura) to cancel out the yellowness (I know it's not really a solution, more like a temporary fix).

I started using a few whitening products to attempt to even out the skintone of my face. It might have done a bit of good. I used the SK-II whitening serum and I think it did help a bit, but I know even if it didn't I'd like to think so since it was £120 for a little bottle.

My problem at the moment is that I have a neck which is darker than my entire body. I think it is from intermittent outbreaks of eczema which leads to hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin when it heals), so it's just darker. It's a bit annoying though, since my face looks mismatched to my neck!

Take care for your skin, if you have darker face skin it can be a cause of sunlight. Use any good quality SPF before going in sunlight. Before going to bed must clean you skin with any moisturizer or you can use fresh milk for skin cleansing. Don't use more skin whitening creams as it is not best for skin. Must apply sunblock!! its a must! Take more vitamin C !

For myself, I will also go for treatment, once a mth or once every 5 weeks. Or if I have any special events to attend, I will do this treatment 3 days before. The result is instant for me! =D

You are most probably working outdoor. one of my friend was also having the same issue, He was not darker but he still wants a fair color. He tried a lot of fairness creams and natural home remedies but it did not work out properly for him as he was expecting. So after discussing and exploring , asking people , he decided to go under cosmetic surgery and had a skin whitening treatment . and you will not believe i was unable to recognize him when he came to meet me ...
You can consider it as an option , it did not cost too much and you can afford easily. You must try other options first may be that work for your skin , but if you really want an awesome effective results then you should consult a surgeon near you ... Here are some details on how the procedure of skin whitening treatment is followed, pros & cons, price , benefits etc ....
