herpes is a disease that can be contagious thru contact with the skin when the herpes is active. herpes never goes away. it just runs around in your body until something triggers a breakout. it can be kept under control with daily medication but it never goes away. a cold sore on your lip is a form of herpes. it sounds as if your friend had a flaring bout with it. sunburn can trigger the disease. you can probably suggest to your friend mederma, cocoa butter, vitamin e to apply to scars. i hope your friend is well and never has another outbreak. they are very painful.

yes and no. herpes simplex virus type 1 can cause cold sores or mouth sores. herpes that is std is caused by the virus type 2. it is a virus and it is running around in the body waiting for something to trigger it. some people never have breakouts. keep healthy, don't kiss anyone with a cold sore, have protected sex, and become informed.

Herpes is a virus that can spread from person to person through skin-to-skin contact. It can appear on many different areas of the body and is typically marked by an eruption of a cluster of blisters, although some people show very mild or no symptoms at all.

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted infection caused by HSV (herpes simplex virus). This virus affects the genitals, the cervix, as well as the skin in other parts of the body. There are two types of herpes simplex viruses: a) HSVp1, or Herpes Type 1, and b) HSV-2, or Herpes Type 2.
