yea family history of melanoma might just accounts for about 2-8% risk of getting melanoma.

some factors that are associated with increase risk of melanoma might be:

    • Changing or persisting change in mole for more than 15 yrs -Very high risk
    • One or several irregularly pigmented lesion
    • Atypical moles or or famalial melanoma
    • Atypical moles but not famalial history
    • Lentigo maligna
    • Congenital moles
    • White race(white skin)
    • Previous melanoma
    • Melanoma in parents, children or siblings
    • Immunosupression like leukemia,lymphoma,renal transplantation
    • Sun sensitivitymtans poorly, burn easily had multiple or severe burns

    To continue:
    • non-regular exposure of skin to intense sun (this is probably why melanoma often occurs on the trunk)
    • fair skin
    • blistering sunburn anytime in life, especially as a child
Avoiding sunburns is by far the most important prevention of melanoma.
