Natural Diuretic?

Now I know this has nothing to do with skin care but I figured there were many of you that are clued up in other areas so I though I would ask.
Do any of you know of a natural diuretic? I had surgery back in may and I feel I am retaining water since then and I want to use something natural rather than medication from a doctor. It's not serious so I don't want anything too strong. I know I could search the net but I would rather have advice from people I trust.

Diuretics are a quick way to help you lose weight fast. The weight you lose from diuretics have to do with water retention. If you are the type of person that retains water you can lose pounds in just one day with a diuretic. Natural diuretics may help relieve water retention by making you urinate more. But there is little if any scientific evidence of their diuretic effects, so you may not find them effective. And if you're aiming for long-term weight loss, natural diuretics probably won't help.

Thanks for your reply paulspnao. It is not for weight loss and not something I want for long term. The surgery I had was close to the bladder along with other organs and I was told I could have temporary problems due to scar tissue while healing. I'm trying to heal without the aid of medication but little things are not back to what I would call normal. As I've been lucky in that I have never had to watch my weight I don't know what is good to use and what is bad. I'll do a google search and see what I come up with.

nikki, caffeine is a natural diuretic. actually they sell diuretic pills otc in the vitamin section of a pharmacy. at least we do here on this side of the pond. there are some natural herb diuretics. cranberry juice is a diuretic and good for your kidneys. but if you want my honest opinion, i would call the doctor and ask him to prescribe a safe low dose diuretic until you are back to normal. trying to treat yourself with otc stuff might not work and your doctor should be aware that you are having some issues with healing.

Thanks Brenda. Its not severe in that I have swollen ankles or knees so I wanted to try something that I could add to my diet just to help me along. I forgot about cranberry juice. I might just try that. Thanks again.

So, if I eat fruits with a high water content I will urinate more than if I eat fruits with a low water content.

Does that mean the same thing as, if I drink a gallon of water I will urinate more than if I drink a cup of water?

I believe pumpkin seeds can help with that. If you don't like them you can also get the active ingredients in tablet form.
