    Default Fluid inside psoriasis bumps?

    Hi,

Background: I was diagnosed with psoriasis today. I have these small reddish/pink bumps all over my elbows and knees. Sometimes they itch a lot, but if I don't scratch the itching goes away in a few minutes. They have been coming and going for about 4 years now. It started with just one or two bumps and then gradually spread. Each time I get them, they go away after a few weeks. Sometimes they kind of dry up and leave a very thin ring of dead skin around where the bump was, but usually they just disappear.

Ok, if you're still reading, here's my question: The bumps have a clear fluid that comes out if I pop them. They also spread like wildfire whenever I pop them. I have a couple of friends with psoriasis, and none of them have heard of fluid coming out of the bumps. Has this happened to anyone else? I wasn't sure about the doctor--he was really quick-- so do you think it would be wise to get a second opinion?

Thanks in advance and sorry this got so long!

I have psoriasis and no liquid comes out. They do not spread like that either as they are not contagious.

My advice to you would to seek another medical opinion.

could be Pustular Psoriasis, psoriasis lesions are usually easy to diagnose. But in few cases it might be misdiagnosed for other erythematosquamous or papulosquamous disorders or other infections. So, if you are unsure about it, its wise to take a second opinion from another dermatologist.

I agree with Deepak. I had this on my feet and within weeks the flare-up had spread like wildfire. I had to resort to going to my GP and I was referred to a specialist who took a sample to rule out any major infections. I think the cream I was given was a mild steroid but it done the trick. Within the month it pretty much all cleared up and now I just get the odd dry patch. Psoriasis can scar the skin so you want to treat it properly to try and avoid this. For the few months after mine cleared up I still had a red discolouration on my feet and I was so paranoid of this it prevented me wearing some shoes. Now you would never know I had it.

Yes the skin can discolour for awhile but it does go away. The pigmentation changes that's all.
