Is it safe to have my facial hair removed via threading? What method would be better threading or waxing? I'm scared that my face might be allergic to the wax, but if I go with threading then it might be so painful especially around the eye area. Believe it or not there are fine hair around my eyes!!!

Mimico I had no idea what threading was. I looked it up and it doesn't sound like it would be much worse than tweezing. This about page (http://hairremoval.about.com/od/threading/f/facialthreading.htm) might allay some fears you have. Of the two options, I'd say threading may well be less problematic than waxing, plus it's quicker. It sounds like you do need a skilled practitioner and it's not something you'd want to be someone's guinea pig for.

I hope so! How did you know that she's an expert? I'd love to learn how to do threading. it seems like an art, although the people who do it for me claim that it's such an easy thing to do. Thanks for all the responses, Kay.

You're very welcome! And I know because Samantha mentioned she was a threading specialist in her introduction thread. (http://dermatalk.com/showthread.php?p=3760#post3760)You probably just haven't caught up with that one yet on your travels around the forum. :)

If you want to see a demonstration on how to do it yourself, there's one here at youtube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q7NoDdPW3Y) I don't know if there are other techniques than this. Perhaps Samantha will be able to shed some light on that for us next time she pops by. :)

Mimico, once you start removing the hair on your face, you will have to do this all the time! And the result can be unpredictable! To me it is more fun changing something inside of my body that will result in my face.

Hi mimico, I think it would be better if you will just go to a dermatologist and have your face checked. An expert knows best. They will tell you what's best to be done. Also, dont forget to go to a trusted derma clinic, for best result.

Waxing is best for threading. If you wax regularly, hair growth slows down over a period of time, and also waxing is less painful. It is easiest if you get waxing done at a parlor.

Here are Your Options: :)

Cream Hair Removal- it works as long as you use it properly and don't leave it on for longer than it recommends.
Wax- if you use this properly also it should work, it never works for me but it. may work for you.
Pluck - I takes forever and its painful but it works.
Lazer - You have to go to a dermatologist for this and it costs a bit of money.

The more common hair removal methods include inexpensive options like shaving and depilatory creams for men and women. Shaving of course, is more effective facial hair remover in that it trims the hair off at skin level and leaving a smoother surface for about twenty-four hours. It's very fast, easy and extremely cheap. The mostly problem with shaving is that it doesn't last long at all and the hair often grows back thicker than before.

I had threading done ONCE. It is actually a funny story how it happened but I won't get into that. I would never do it again. I really didn't even need it done. I went to get a manicure and all of a sudden she was threading :omg: I can get talked into the strangest things sometimes. There are gadgets out there, especially if you have darker hair, that work great I am told. I am so fair that even if I had facial hair you wouldn't see it. My daughter uses depilatory cream and is happy with it. She tried threading and cried because it was so painful. It didn't last any longer than the depilatory cream.

Pattern balding should not be confused with alopecia areata, which commonly involves patchy hair loss. Extreme forms of alopecia areata are alopecia totalis, which involves the loss of all head hair, and the most extreme form, alopecia universalis, which involves the loss of all hair from the head and the body. If u wanna protect your hair then just come at here

Hi,
I have an overgrowth of facial hairs I frequently visit parlor for hair removal. I wish to get rid of it permanently. So I planned to do laser hair removal treatment from Port Coquitlam-based Beauti Med skin care center. But I already had done laser therapy for acne. Is there any side effects in doing it for the second time?
