What causes lip pigmentation

These 3-4 yrs my lips are getting dark and looks really ugly.Does it means i have some disease or it is normal condition.What really causes dark lips and how can i get rid of them? please help

Excessive smoking ,drinking more tea and coffee causes lip pigmentation.decrease intake of this.There also might be some disease causing lip pigmentation so consult a doctor for this.
