I've read articles about vitamin toxicity due to overdosing. Does the same apply to skin care lotions? A lot of the antioxidants are vitamins (A, C, D, E) as well as others such as lipoic acid. As long as there is no irritation then is more better?

Thanks

I don't know about having too much vitamin. I use pure Vitamin C powder in my masque everyday and have been having fabulous results. In the morning I will sometimes substitute that with Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Do I need to be concerned?

Ok this is scary because I have a vitamin capsule almost everyday. Is there really such a thin as a vitamin overdose ? I thought the excess vitamins are washed off from your body. Especially vitamin C. There can never be an overdose of C. Of vitamin A however is possible. Somebody needs to clear air on this.

you can overdose on anything. all in moderation. adding extra skin care lotion is just wasting it. oral vit a, e, d, is not expelled from our body like the b's and c's. it is stored in the fatty tissues so it can be used when we need it. i am not saying not to take vitamins and minerals orally or topically but do it in moderation. most times more is not better. except in pizza or ice cream!!

I once went over the top on freshly squeezed juices. was probably only consuming about 3 ltr per day of all sort of flavours not just the same stuff. after a while i had to take A WEEK OFF WORK.

apparently thy use vitamin c therapy to cure all sorts of nasty diseases and the dose is exceptionally high

Always bare in mind that everything that is too much is not good. Even lotion can give you side effects so I suggest you to stop overdoing yourself. Try to do things little by little or shall I say one step at a time.

A vitamin e overdose is for the most part rare. However, some individuals are not careful and may not follow a physician’s instructions carefully on the proper dosage to take. In their haste to correct their skin care problem or health problem, individuals may take too much vitamin e

The human body only needs one or two milligrams of vitamin B6 per day, but they are sold in one-gram quantities. When taking this dose of vitamin B6 only take one table every two days and drink plenty of water. If an overdose of vitamin B6 occurs it could cause serious damage, it could cause sensory control and motor control loss. The symptoms of taking too much vitamin e or vitamin e side effects are broad and may reflect many other health problems other than a vitamin e overdose. Check with a physician immediately if you suspect that you have overdosed on vitamin e and to ensure there is no underlying illness causing the symptoms. Symptoms of an overdose or vitamin e side effects can include: abdominal pain, abdominal gas, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, weakness, headaches, blurred vision, and internal bleeding due to depress blood coagulation if the overdose has been occurring over a long term. Some women taking vitamin e have reported emotional disturbances as a side effect of taking vitamin e supplements. Also, high doses of vitamin e can affect the absorption of some other vitamins, in particular vitamin a and vitamin k and subsequently cause a deficiency in these vitamins. i am not saying not to take vitamins and minerals orally or topically but do it in moderation. most times more is not better. except in pizza or ice cream!!

We may think that such supplements and liquid vitamins can be a great solution for businessmen, dieters and other types of people who have no opportunity to provide the body with necessary amounts of vitamins and nutrients every day. These supplements seem to be a great substitution for a missed breakfast or a serving of organic veggies and fruit, especially in winter. However, we certainly must be careful about taking uncontrolled and unregulated amounts of such vitamin supplements. Those who ever had a vitamin C overdose know that though it is the least harmful type, it can cause diarrhea and severe stomach aches. Vitamin A overdose can cause blurred vision, hair loss, depression and other negative side effects. Vitamin B6 overdose causes numbness and slowed down reactions. Or, D Vitamin overdose can make us feel extremely tired and unable to move our legs or arms. Even more harm can come from certain vitamin combinations, that is why more and more specialists are talking about the dangers and risks linked to consuming one or another type of multivitamins.
