My husband is 35 and was diagnosed with dermatitis herpetaformis 3.5 years ago. He switched to a gluten free diet and has been fine ever since. We recently went to Florida at the beginning of February, and when we came back, he has been having problems since. It started with severe stomach and back pain. An ultrasound confirmed that he was severely constipated and he had no idea. He took care of that problem, but then his skin became extremely itchy. It is not the itchiness characterized by DH, as there are no bumps or blisters. An antihistamine relieves the itch. It seems to be worse in the evening and night. His mouth is very dry, and most recently, he has been getting red blotches on his skin. The red patches are mainly on his feet between his toes, but also appear on his palms, wrists, cheeks. Today he noticed the patches on his hands were hot. They are not itchy, not raised, and go away within an hour or so. He also noticed that if he squeezes an object with his hands, they stay red for an unusually long time, 20 minutes or so.

Too many symptoms to figure out what's going on. He has seen his MD twice and he brushes him off. He says its winter itch or allergies but we are concerned.
