Hey guys, my name is Connor. I'm 17 years young and from the UK. I'm just writing on this forum as I have a few questions about my arms? :p
So first of all, can any one tell me what this is? It's not Eczema I had that when I was around 4-10.
My arms have been like this as far as I can remember?
It feels like a lighter variant of sand paper.
Is there treatment? (Please don't suggest any professional medical/prescribed drugs as I'm in the process of joining the Army and that will bar me for 4-years)
All help is appreciated, cheers!

Welcome to the forum Connor. I would like to ask you few questions..
Do they itch?
Do you have such lesion on upper arms, thigh, or any other places...
Do they come and go?
Do they tends to be more severe during winter or summer or no change?
Does your dad, mom or any other close relatives have such lesions.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
No, they don't itch.
Upper arm: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/96/img0115uu.jpg/ (I believe so, however it's not so rough to feel.)
Thigh: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/560/img0116ry.jpg/ (Same again, doesn't feel rough.)
No, I've never noticed weather cause a change other than when I get goose bumps then it tends to be more noticeable.
My mum has said she had "rough skin" when she was younger and grew out of it, however I believe she is extremely un-educated about it all as I've done a little bit of research particulary on Rosacea as I believe I have that. Yes... I know best of both worlds.(which for the record if anyone wants to know only comes out when I feel hot or drink alcohol, but when I'm outside in the cold drinking alcohol it doesn't.)
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Connor

Thanks for your reply.Well your condition looks like keratosis pilaris (more specific -keratosis pilaris rubra), which is harmless condition. It often improves with age. Some people believe to outgrowth the disease by early twenties, but this is not always the case. About 40-50% have family history of such cases.
There is no universally accepted treatment available. Some cases clears spontaneously without treatment. There are several treatment both prescription and over the counter available in the market, some home remedies too..
Basic measures may be to avoid dry skin and use of regular moisturizers. Other options are salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, corticosteroids and retinoids..
As you don't want professional prescription advice.. I would suggest you to search for some home remedies or over counter medications. This disease is harmless so no treatmènt is require and I don't think it will affect your joining to army..
if you want to ask any questions feel freè to ask...

As there is no definitive cure or universally effective treatment for keratosis pilaris. It requires long-term maintenance therapies.Regular skin lubrication is the mainstay of treatment for nearly all cases.General measures to prevent excessive skin dryness, such as using mild soapless cleansers like dove or cetaphil followed by lubricating skin 2-3 times a day with creams containing combination of lactic acid, urea and glycolic acid etc may help to provide symptomatic relief.there is no need to worry as this condition is harmless and often improves as you age.
