Henna is essentially a good conditioner and leaves a good tint. If you wish to use it only as a conditioner, you need not leave it in your hair for more than ½ an hour. Put the henna powder through a sieve so that you use only fine powder. Mix 1 teaspoonful of soapnuts powder and 1 teaspoonful of coffee powder. The quantity of henna powder will depend on the length of your hair but normally a full cup is enough for shoulder-length hair.
If you have normal to dry hair, add 2 teaspoonfuls of olive oil or almond oil. Mix it with water to a manageable consistency. Divide your hair in 8 sections by first parting it in the center and then width-wise. Start with the innermost hair and keep piling on top of hair. When you have covered all the hair, you can tie a scarf around to stop the liquid from dripping on your face or down, or cover with a shower cap, and leave it for a while. Wash it off with a mild shampoo and enjoy your hennaed hair.
