Well as common of a story as this may be, I started to get acne when I was about 13 years old. I was determined to get rid of it forever. I started on a quest of learning and trying lots of different things. I tried conventional methods and not so conventional methods.
My dermatologist quickly told me that my diet had nothing to do with my complexion and that it was a waist of my time to try anything like that.
Well I didn't and still do not buy into the "conventional American way of healing" which is not healing by the way merely TREATMENT. But I guess you cant blame doctors, cause if you could help yourself then what would they and there precious medicine do!!
You see I was raised in a family of health freaks that actually knew something about health. None the less I did not take the doctors advice or medicine and I started to change my diet a little. Instead of pizza and wings all of the time I started eating a lot more salad and greens. But wait, why oh why did my skin start clearing up???!!!! Why is it that when I started to cut substantial ammounts of sugar and fat (chocolate) out of my diet that my skin started to clear up like crazy. I kid you not when I say that I figured out by the time I was 15 that sugar was the biggest contributing factor to my body acne than anything.
People thought I was crazy to eat so "healthy" now, but I was just happy to be pimple free...
So the moral of my story is not that doctors are the devil and that they are just trying to medicate you for no reason, but it is to THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX. My diet changes may not help everyone like they helped me And yes I still do maintain my skin externally with oer the counter products. But please just do not listen to what the first MD will tell you. The internet is a beautiful thing and can give you info on anything you want to learn about. Look for alternative ways to manage your skin.
