Primer

For those that wear make up, even occasionally, do you use a primer and if so what do you use?

I really really like primers, but I've only tried one or two. I do like the Bare Minerals Prime Time one, it feels a little weird going on but just wait a few minutes before putting your foundation on, your face feels so soft and your foundation lasts hours longer than it normally would! I've also been wanting to try the Korres Primer because it's all natural and doesn't have silicone.

I used to use primers but I didn't find any difference in the look of my makeup so I stopped using them. If you do need or want to use one stay away from any with silicone as it will clog your pours.

Take a picture of when you use a primer and when you don't to see if there is a difference. You may find you don't need it and you are wasting your money.

I generally use foundation as a primer.

A foundation is not primer. A primer is a product you put under your makeup so that your makeup goes on smoother.

I had not heard of this and was confused by the differnce between foundation and primer. I'll have to check it out.

A primer is use as a base for your foundation (either cream or powder). It helps your foundation go on smoother and looks better. Just about every makeup company makes one.

The reason Primer makes foundation last longer and look smoother is because it creates a "barrier" between your skin and the foundation to stop the natural oils of your skin affecting your makeup, and also stops your foundation from blocking your pores.

I heard milk of magnesium is a wonderful primer for those who have oily skin!

I use BB cream which makes my skin soft and ready to putr foundation :)

Would anyone argue that a thin layer of facial moituriser under foundation does the same job as a primer? I currently use Righteous Butter by Soap and Glory then follow with my usual powder or foundation.

Tinted moisturizers and bb creams are a great alternative. You don't have to use a primer and you get a natural healthy glow without having to worry about heavy primers and foundations.
