Since the past few months I have experienced constant itching in the skin around my ears and eye brows. The skin becomes flaky and tends to peel off. It has been a few days now that I have small red eruptions near my earlobes. Is this serious? Are there any simple remedies to get rid of these eruptions?

Itching and scaling around the ear and eye could be due to various types of eczemas like seborrhoic eczema, photo eczema or contact eczemas due to other causes. First the diagnosis has to be confirmed clinically by a skin specialist; only then should treatment be started. However, some precautions can be followed before getting treatment done- avoid sun exposure or ultraviolet rays by using a good sun block cream with extra moisturiser.

A friend of mine experienced an almost similar situation as well. She was constantly feeling itchy but she takes a bath twice a day so it's not because of sweat or formation of bacteria on her skin. She went to a doctor and the doctor said she's having allergic reactions to dust.

This is not a topical preparation but you can take MSM a natural ingredient you can find on the internet for sale if not locally. It helps a lot with any type of inflammatory problem which is what eczema and psoriasis are contributed to. Allergic dermatitis can do this too and you can try over the counter Benadryl. That will help the itching. It makes some people sleepy so know that before you take it.

I'm also interested what was the cause in this case...

Beside seborrheic dermatitis and ringworm, other causes of rashes around the ears are head lice and hair dyes that may both cause allergic reaction.
