1. Hypersecretion of sebaceous glands - sebaceous glands are located deep inside the skin. Each of them is "connected" with a narrow channel, called follicle, which is a hair. These glands produce an oily secretion known as sebum, which spreads to the skin surface through hair follicles, which lubricates them - and the action of the portion of skin surrounding each follicle separately. Each follicle has an external opening (at skin surface), called gates. The size of sebaceous glands is variable, the largest being associated with visible pores of the skin. Sebaceous glands are stimulated by hormones to secrete sebum - especially by male hormones called androgens that (which is also found in the woman's body, but, naturally, at a rate much lower than for men). These hormones are produced by the ovaries, testes respectively. Also, both the woman's body, and the male, androgens are produced by the adrenal glands. In periods marked by stress, these glands secrete a greater amount of androgens, causing the sebaceous glands and hypersecretion. Also, puberty, sebaceous glands are overactive, as a result of hormonal changes in the body that occur.

2. Blocking pores - as a result of hypersecretion of sebaceous glands, the skin acquires a glossy appearance, being "oily" to the touch. Acne occurs when pores (through which sebum - from the sebaceous glands to the skin surface) become blocked and the sebum secretion remains captive. The pores are blocked by an aggregate composed of dead cells and seborrhea. The cause of this blockage is unknown, but it is not the consequence of poor hygiene. The blocked pore, it will develop a white or black point.

3. Bacterial infection - although acne is not caused by a bacterial infection, bacteria worsens the situation. Propionibacterium acnes bacteria normally found in the skin, acting as a barrier to protect skin against other harmful bacteria. When the secretion of sebum is "trapped" in the follicles, increased intake of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria in the blocked pore. Bacteria produce a number of harmful chemicals that attack the skin, causing inflammation and aggravating the irritation.

4. Inflammation of skin is accompanied by symptoms such as redness, discomfort and heat of the skin. Inflammation occurs as a result of the immune system trying to reject a foreign substance - in this case either bacteria or irritating components of these products.

These four factors contribute to blocked pores, which is manifested by blackheads, white respectively, of pimples (known under the name of baskets) and cysts. Blackheads are formed when pores are blocked near the skin surface. The rule was not inflamed, and their color is due to a black pigment - and not waste deposited in the pores.

Whiteheads develop as a result of pore blockage occurred in depth. In absence of drainage ways, sebum accumulates in the skin, thus forming white or colored dots. Unlike blackheads, whiteheads shows a high probability of leading to pimples.Pustules (pimples) appear locked when the follicle wall ruptures. Sebum, dead skin cells and bacteria normally found in the skin and irritate the skin enter the interior, forming small sore. Cysts are those greater inflammation, red, lying deeper into the epidermis, indicating an infection located in a more advanced stage.

Other factors contributing to the worsening of acne:
1. Malnutrition - those who consistently eat chocolate, snacks and, in general, fast-food foods are more susceptible to acne. On the other hand, from a research project undertaken by a team of nutritionists from abroad, it was concluded that people whose daily diet consists mainly of fruits, vegetables, fish and lean meat do not show symptoms of acne. Nutrition experts recommend a diet low in fat as cereals, bread and sweets. Increasing the amount of sugar in the blood, which occurs due to high consumption of foods mentioned, has as a consequence of changes in hormonal stimulation is the "preview" of acne;
2. An important factor is the hereditary acne;
3. Stress is "responsible" sometimes acne. Changes in the hormone may occur due to stress and hormones are those that stimulate the sebaceous gland activity. There is a risk that people will opt for an inappropriate treatment of acne, simply because they have not detected the true cause, which may aggravate the situation;
4. Sweating condition seems to worsen acne in 15% of cases. Also, moisture, and tight clothing can aggravate them;
5. Cosmetic products can cause irritation of the pores which swell and become blocked. It is recommended that cosmetic products do not contain oils, but sometimes even these are harmful for sensitive skin.

The increased production of the Testosterone hormone and natural oils in the body during the teenage years is responsible for the formation of pimples. However other physical and genetic factors may also play a role. Stress, psychological disturbances, and irregular living habits can also bring on Acne.

Acne, also known as pimples. The bacteria, named Propionibacterium Acne, are typically live on our skin and cause to acne. Improper skin care products can cause irritation to your skin. Over exposure to sunrays cause skin damage and worsening existing acne. Some common acne medications can make your skin sensitive to the sun and lead to worse skin condition.

acne dates back to the begining of mankind. i don't believe it is getting worse, i just believe people are treating it now instead of letting nature take it's course. adina i liked your statement about causes of acne. you said it very well. you have to work hard to treat acne. it is not a do one day and forget about it. or only use medication once in a while. when you find a treatment that works use it on a regular basis.

Yes, but there can apper another problem. After a time the acnee will be imune on that medication.
I will give you a concrete example. A few years ago I meet a girl, he was almost 19 and was suffering from acne. Well, her dermatologist recommended her to use Skinoren Gel. All fine, she used it for 3 months (as the medic saied) and her acne was like never known her face.

After a time, no more than 5 months I guees, her acne was back. She tried the same medication, but this time without succes. The microbe becomed imune.

i can see that this can happen. i really was talking about caring for the skin more than just medicating. i just didn't say it right. you know, cleansing the face, eating right, and getting enough sleep. i guess sometimes i think people can read my mind.

The best way to stop acne is to find out what cause them to break out. Several factors can cause acne in different situations. Knowing what the factors that cause acne provides you more knowledge on how to prevent and cure it.

Just what causes acne to develop? First and foremost, bacteria cause acne. Specifically, there’s a bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes, or also called P. acnes that cause acne. This type of bacteria is generally under the layer of our skin and it makes the production of enzymes from white blood cells. This will now cause the redness and inflammation of the skin. These bacteria come from dirt and other external elements. So a poor hygiene can also cause the bacteria to live in the skin.

Second cause is the excessive production of sebum oil. It results from an active sebaceous gland which is responsible in production of sebum oil. After having a very vigorous and physical activity, the body sweats and thus, contains oil. When this oil clogs the pores of the skin, inflammation will happen. Then acne breaks out.

Hormones are the third factor that causes acne. Hormonal imbalance is also one factor that causes acne. Women are most likely the ones who have hormonal imbalances because of menstruation, pregnancy, and the consumption of birth control pills. However, men and women alike have the certain hormone called Androgen. This makes the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum oil that will in turn develop acne formation.

Fourth factor that causes acne break is the use of skin care products and cosmetics. The main reason why people use skin care products is to cleanse. However, some of the skin care products bring about irritation because of harsh materials. Our skin types vary from each other so some of these skin care products have different reactions on our skin as well. As for cosmetics, women can’t avoid using these most especially if their job requires wearing make-up. Some cosmetics can cause itchiness, dryness and redness on the skin. Frequent use of make-up can clog the pores if it’s not thoroughly washed off of the skin. Then acne can develop from these clogged and dirty pores.

These are the primary factors that can give you irritating and embarrassing acne. As mentioned earlier, target the root of the problem. Now that you know the causes of this skin disorder, it will be easy for you to prevent it from bursting out of your skin.

Guy did you know that all acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, which is made up of a hair follicle, sebaceous gland, and a hair. These units are found everywhere on the body except on the palms, soles, top of the feet, and the lower lip. The number of pilosebaceous units is greatest on the face, upper neck, and chest. Sebaceous glands produce a substance called sebum, which is responsible for keeping the skin and hair moisturized. During adolescence sebaceous glands enlarge and produce more sebum under the influence of hormones, also called androgens. After about age 20, sebum production begins to decrease.
