What are skin cancer warning signs? is naevus?

Hi,

I have a black hairy nevus on my left hand.
Its surface is smooth, its not ulcerated, not bleeding and not spreading.

I am worried that can it be skin cancer ? or just warning sign of skin cancer?

were you born with this nevus or has it developed in the last few years. has there been a change of color? most nevi are benign. the only way you can find out is to have a biopsy done on the spot. it is usually not cancerous but there is always concern if it has changed in anyway. have it checked out.
