you could try mattifying lotions that absorb the oil once it gets out of your pores, but they're extremely pricey and a little bottle could cost you around $50. if you want a cheaper version, you could carry around blotting sheets that absorb oil which would cost you around $10.

One of the most helpful things for reducing sebum or oil are clay masks.
but take one thats moisturizing, else will dry up the skin.

I have one with clay in the facewash and I wash at night and my skin is less oily in the morning, and I wash again in the morning, and put a tiny bit of light moisturiser.

Blotting sheets are just great for those quick touchups- I've tried a lot of mattifying lotions and none worked for me so was a lot of money down the drain L( - you need to try a few to see what works best for your skin , maybe you'll be luckier.

I've always had a problem with oily skin as well. I've found that blotting papers are good for absorbing the excess oil. You can get a package of them at the Drug Store or Dept Store for around $5 - $7. They go quickly though so you may want to get a couple of packages to start out with.

The french clay masks work very well for drawing out oil and also helping to get rid of black heads too. I used these in my massage practice for those wanting facials while getting a massage. I have been doing some more reading on acne since my daughter is having a hard time with it right now.
I learned that your diet can help or hurt your acne as well. I read some sources claim that the more greasy foods or fats that you eat, can affect your skin tone. I would also get a hand made lye soap, I use goat's milk formula with rosemary, lavender or oatmeal milk and honey. I wash my face twice daily with this and touch up the problem areas with a bit of alcohol then apply toner to the rest of my face.

I have oily skin. I feel very bad about my oily skin. I used to wash my face regularly with cool water but even though I used to get some rashes on my face because of this oily skin. Does any one know how to control these rashes?

Something you might be doing is over doing removing the oil from your skin, and the rash is a dry skin rash because you are removing too much oil.
Try using something to remove the oil once a day and wash your face morning and night with a very gentle cleanser. This way you are not taking out what your skin needs. If you have certain areas that are more oily you can just use an astringent or toner on those areas more often to keep down the oil production. Look at your diet as well to see if you can improve there.

I have oily skin as well especially after maybe 4 hours of not washing my face. On top of that, the weather in my country's really warm so we tend to sweat a lot without moving at all. I just have a pack of oil blotting sheets nearby all the time. I think I use a sheet every hour or so. It's less drying than having to wash my face because the process just absorbs excess oil without stripping the topmost layer of my skin.

An oily skin leads to increased open pores which in turn increases blackheads – more so in the T-zone. Your daily care routine should include 2 washes with products suitable for oily skins. Blackheads should be removed with care, after steaming the face and then the pores should be helped to close with cold water. The moisturizer you use for the face should also be appropriate and free of oil. Natural skin toners like fresh tomato juice are good for oily skins. Apply with cotton wool after cleansing but wash after 10 minutes.

Has anyone here used baking soda to absorb oil on their skin? I have read somewhere that its good for absorbing oil and its very gentle on the skin.
So if anyone has any more info on this I would appreciate them sharing.

Backing soda is an easy and money saving beauty-aid.

1. To get rid over bad odor of arm pit, baking soda helps much.
2. It cleans your body when mix in your bath water [warm].
3. It also acts as a good facial scrub.

Keeping the skin clean and moisturized is a good way of helping to cleanse pores and reduce the amount of oil produced. You should use products that are oil based to cleanse your skin as they dissolve sebum effectively. You can choose soaps made of natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera based soap or a light medicated soap. You should consult a skin specialist before buying any product or should go in for a product tried by others.

The best thing for me with my oily/acne prone skin has been using the green clay mask from Burt's bees. It is in powder form and I mix it with lemon juice - I do the mask daily followed by witch hazel followed by a bit of oil free moisturizer. I then use Face to Face SuperMatte Antishine - I've tried a ton of different "anti-shine" products and this is the best - you only need a tiny bit. For any shine that comes on during the day, I either use the blotting papers or what is cheapest is getting those curler papers from a salon type store - they blot oil and cost a couple of bucks for like 500. They work well.

I also use the Burts' bees face powder which has been one of the best for keepig my skin shine free and natural looking.

Funny you should say that! I use Silver Powder from mario badescu and that's the main ingredient. I guess that's why it works to get rid of blackheads! its sucks them up!!!!

I found a great french clay that I add dried herbs to and use it as a mask for just my T zone where I still get some oily areas at. It really helps pull out those deep icky dirty pores and gets rid of blackheads. It feels good and does not irritate my sensitive skin either.

Most people think oily skin is a result of too much moisture and use drying products to counteract the oil. Drying out your skin only leads to more problems. I would recommend using a gentle cleanser, oil tackling toner and a hydrating moisturizer. InstaNatural has a great Dual Mattifying Toner that really helped me with my skin. It soaked up all the oil, but did not leave my skin dry at all.
