1. Don't smoke. It's affects your skin drastically.

2. Wash your face thrice a day since a lot of dust gets accumulated and put on a proper treatment product, if needed.

3. Keep your makeup clean. Do remember to replace the sponges in your compact on a regular basis.

Smoking cigarettes causes the constriction of the blood vessels which in turn reduces blood supply (to the skin) resulting in reduction in the availability of oxygen and the removal of waste products, dead cell fragments etc… So avoid smoking ..

I disagree with washing your face thrice a day. I think twice a day is the best number of times. When you keep washing your face, you strip off a layer of your skin thereby making it dry. Instead of washing your face during the day, you might consider using a refreshing spritzer to cool your face or oil blotter sheets to remove excess oil and dust.

7. Always take cold showers. If you take a hot shower, more often than not, you would have noticed that you will sweat while drying yourself. The reason for this is the increase in skin temperature that occurs when you take a hot shower. With increase in skin temperature, sweating is induced and in fact the whole purpose of taking a bath can be defeated.

8. Consult your doctor and get some information on what type of counter products will help you to control excessive sweating. People have reported to suffer from allergies and irritation while using some deodorants and it is always better to try out a deodorant before you purchase it. You can always experiment with various deodorants and antiperspirants that are available in the market to find one that helps you the most.

10. Use different methods to cool your skin down. A fan or an air conditioner will definitely help you to control sweating.

11. Have as much as healthy cold snacks as you can. Cool lemonade, ice cream or any cold beverage will help you to keep yourself cool.

Have you tried eating one cucumber (normal size) a day?
It is not only good for your skin but also good as a low calorie snack.

In less than one month, you should see an improvement (a great improvement) in your "facial" skin.

Especially if you have acne problems, this should be on your "must do" list.

yes, overwashing can actually damage your skin! but you should always wash your face morning and night, and after workouts and such when you sweat!

So this thread is for the barest, most basic skin care tips? What a lovely idea.

I think we've pretty much got the basics covered, except for sun protection. Wear a sunscreen every day, even in the winter! UV damage is cumulative throughout one's lifetime. And just because it bears repeating: DON'T SMOKE!!!!

Good tips! Not smoking and water intake are major ones for sure! Many people may have trouble keeping up with hectic skincare routines with tons of different products - to simplify your routine try an all in one product like a BB cream that will have sun protection, moisturizer, tint, etc. There are even some that are good to get rid of acne like the **** Blemish Recover Balm.

it's true, nobody's going to stop smoking just from reading a post on a forum.
not even very occasional smokers like me, cause we just enjoy it too much.
sad, but true.

^I always figured that the internal effects of smoking were more in the public eye than the external effects. So when I'm on a skincare forum, I always try to get the word out. :D

But then that begs the question that if somebody doesn't care about the internal effects, would they even care about the external effects? I honestly don't know. It seems like something that women would be more concerned with that men, because we're so obsessed with beauty treatments and health and whatnot.

try using a homemade facial scrub/exfoliator every morning and add natural moisturizers daily. here's the ingredients for the scrub
half a banana, mashed
half a teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of yogurt

just mix it all together and leave it on for 5 minutes then rinse off. it works for me :]

also, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. it REALLY helped my skin.

To make or keep your skin beautiful, it's best to work from the inside.

Eating the right kind of food can do you more good than any medicine, and go a long way in helping your body's own healing forces. Eat a balanced diet that includes raw foods, plenty of yellow and orange vegetables (they contain beta carotene - a precursor to vitamin A). Foods high in sulfur such as garlic, onions, asparagus and eggs. Include fruits, seeds, grains and nuts.

I really agree with Shona's post. Drinking water is very good for health. But not only drinking make good effect, it also depends on your food. Eating vegetables increases your health, create good stamina and make a person active.

Best skincare tip I have ever found is protecting yourself from the sun because a lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems — as well as increase the risk of skin cancer.
