Try to use water based or gel based makeup from the good brands available in the market.Always use clean sponges to apply makeup and wash them with antiseptic lotion after use.You can also rub ice on the face before make-up to make it last better.

^ i disagree. you shouldn't use gel based makeup because it can clog your pores and lead to even more acne. try mineral makeup instead! like bare escentuals--they don't clog your pores at all and they're lightweight, but provide the coverage you need.

Yes, you should start working with oil-free make-up and base that you can find easily in the market. Bare Escentuals has some amazing products..do try them. Also keep cleaning your skin after every make-up with a good oil-free cleanser as soon as you are free to do so.

also, you should LIGHTLY exfoliate your face once a week so that those dead skin cells won't get trapped in your pores and further inflame them. and plus, exfoliation leaves your skin smooth!

Sabina. Let me know the followings so that I can find the right solution for your problem.
1. your age
2. your skin type
3. How frequently you use soap.
4. What’s your cleaning technique?
5. Your face cream type.
6. How much time your make-up last?
Assuming your skin type as oily, I feel you should use a medicated or mild cleanser to get benefit. Apply gram flour base face packs with either fresh fruit pulp or vegetable extract, but do not depend on it as a cleanser.
To reduce oiliness before make up, tone your skin after a good cleansing and then rub an ice-cube wrapped in soft cloth. This would help reduce the oiliness and use matte effect make-up rather than oil-based foundation. If you have black spots on your face, you will need a cream meant for removing such marks.
You can also add a pinch of turmeric to your face pack. It is a natural antiseptic agent.

Hi Sabrina, I have oily/ combination skin as well. Most of the time, using liquid foundation will make my face really shiny after a couple of house, so I top it off with loose powder. From experimenting, I found that using a two-way foundation works best for me. All I have to do is wet a sponge and use it to apply the powder foundation to my face. Sometimes I use a primer such as the one from Smash Box but even without a primer, 2 way makeup still goes on smoothly.
Some of the members have claimed that mineral makeup is great for oily skin. Well, I tried this before as well because I had acne problems. It didn't turn out that great. I wasn't allergic to the product but the finish was so-so. I was expecting a lot more from all the hype as well as the price of the products I used (Bare Escentuals) but was quite disappointed. So I went back to using a 2 way foundation (it's called 2 way because you can use it wet or dry) and if I expect to be out longer, I apply loose powder on top as well. The mineral makeup lines have what is called a mineral veil that is similar to loose powder. I like this product a lot. Not only does it keep my make up in place, it also blots out the oil on my skin.
