This is natural and although you cannot prevent it you can help. Try avoiding foods that trigger, like chocolate, and eat more fruit and veg and drink water. Get into a good skincare routine (there is some great advice on this forum) and you should find your skin less oily at that time of the month so less acne.

Start to increase fruit, veg and water intake about 5 days before you're due. As I said there is nothing you can do to prevent this, and if it helps you are not alone, but avoiding sugar, fizzy drinks, fried food and things like that will help in the long run. I don't know how old you are but it will settle down as your body gets used to the changes that's happening. It's just sadly there is no time limit.

I get this too, I hate it. The week before and a few days during are just a nightmare on my skin

I too get some breakouts during and before my menstrual cycle. Though it's very hard to prevent it ,I guess proper rest(avoiding stress)and good night sleep ,including taking lots of water and proper cleansing of face with PH balanced facewash and avoiding greasy and heavy make-ups make help decrease breakouts.

You have to take proper rest during the periods.

This happens during periods but if it is unbearable then you should consult with a good gynaecologist, so that you get proper medicines. Regular exercises can help in preventing from menstrual pains, you may also use coupe menstruelle (http://www.cupissima.com) during your periods, so that you are more comfortable and relax.
