I'm sure many of you using oral antibiotics for your acne and other skin disease. But currently i saw some articles saying long term antibiotics may cause breast cancer. Is it true ? Can any expert here confirm . i had taken antibiotics for around 5-6 months for my acne before. I'm afraid.

i have checked all medical data and please be assured any medication either doxycycline, monocyline, tetracyline, and sulfamethoxamole/trimethoprim, that is used for acne causes breast cancer. i have been taking doxycyline for several years. i just have to watch when i am out in the sun but then if i am a good girl i always use sunscreen. you have to watch what other medications you are on so tell the doctor what other meds you take. but please don't worry. in all the literature i read there was no mention of cancer even after long term use. i even read the package insert from all of the above and it has to tell everything. stop worrying.

This doesn't mean that it causes cancer, results shows there might be relationship between them. More research are still to be carried out to confirm the relationship between acne antibiotics and breast cancer.

This might be that acne or other associated disease that requires people to take antibiotics might have increased their risk of breast cancer not the antibiotics itself.
