Help! I think I have been bitten by fleas. :( One of the DTers posted a link to an online database of pictures of allergies and bites and mine looks similar to flea bites. Plus we have cats at home so it must have come from them. I already googled the treatment, but the problem is that I now have fever! Is this serious? Is it something that I have to be worried about? :(

are you sure the fever is from the flea bites. could it be misquito bites? how many do you have and where are they? nosy aren't i? are they all over your body? i don't think it is anything to worry about but if you see one flee on your cat, better get it a flea treatment.

sometimes fever can be from allergic reaction of a flea bites, take some anti-allergies medicines. if doesn't improve immediately visit ur doctor.

If you have Benadryl there and can take it, go ahead and take a dose and see if it helps the itching. Take Tylenol or Ibuprofen for the fever. If it does not go away, contact your doctor.
I would use hydrocortisone or Benadryl creme or even Calamine would work on the bites. They can be nasty stinkers and itch like crazy!
They should not be causing you to have a fever if it is flea bites. No allergy should cause a fever over 100 degrees. Anything over that signals a bacterial or viral process going on and should be taken care of by medical personnel.

Calamine lotion for the bites. Concentrate on getting rid of the fleas in your home. We had our cat injected at the Vets It will make flees infertile. combined with a good flea killing drop he's now squeeky clen. WE BOUGHT SOME GAS / smoke bombs for the rooms in the house altough i didn't thik it was neccesary the wife did lol

I have never had good luck with the bombs. WE used the Ortho Home Pest Control Spray and it worked wonders the one time we had an outbreak here.

i have 4 dogs and 2 cats. i really don't have a flea problem because i treat my animals with meds from the vet but when i did have them i spread moth balls all over my basement and that did the trick. it even helps keep spiders away. i know moth balls stink and be careful if you have a closed in area. they smell for about a week. but moth balls are cheap.

We got a cat he gets fleas from being out side. I groom him regularly and treat him with drops. It never causes a major problem. We do not have textile floor coverings here and I think that could be a could way to prevent infestation

Getting rid of carpet is a major boon in getting rid of fleas with pets. We have hardwood flooring now and we never have a problem with fleas here.
